Here it is - our next episode from the MacWorld Education Symposium - a fantastic day of sessions organized by our good friends at CUE!
Here we asked attendees to share some of their best ideas and imagine what the world would be like if every child had an iPhone. We also take time out to tour the exhibit hall with Hall Davidson.
And don't miss our big announcement of the hottest new ed tech gadget, the "ITM Phone". Place your order today!
"Hello" - Imagine, every kid with an iPhone? Love the comments by our teachers - "no more waiting to learn" and of course it is how the tools is used is most important, thanks for keeping that in mind for us too Wesley!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris,
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I enjoyed watching our walk through the MacWorld "Hall". Let's do another one here at CUE!
I watched a film like this in 1998 with the top technology of the day. The teachers had similar upbeat comments. However, the structure for delivering education remains the same (180 days, 6.5 hours per day, 1:25 teacher pupil ratios etc.) and over 8,500 schools have students who read and compute below basic levels. The missing element is a core of leaders who can envision and articulate the structural changes that are more aligned with these new tools. We can no longer "integrate technology into the curriculum." It doesn't work when thinking about an education system -- only with motivated individual users. We need to combine people, teaching, and technology in new and better ways of learning.
ReplyDeleteHey Chris,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you agreed with the point of view I shared. What about supporting a movement that is based on the premise that learning gets integrated into technology rather than the usual technology gets integrated into education. That would cause interested parties to re-think the essential tasks of teaching such as writing lessons, making tests, delivering instruction, and getting better through professional development that is delivered through something I call "Online2." That's when the best of what people do is combined with the best of what technology does. My latest thoughts about how this movement might evolve are on this web page. I hope you enjoy them.
